Last Thursday evening, the first garden party sponsored by the Friends of Anna Sterne 2010 was held to support Anna Sterne and her campaign for New York State Assembly. Fifty friends, neighbors, coworkers and Democratic Party District Leaders came out to hear Anna speak and network with other volunteers from the Towns of Greenburgh and Mount Pleasant that make up the 92nd Assembly District. “I am so happy to be here and see so many people who believe in Anna,” said Ashley Jones, a longtime family friend, “Anna is passionate and caring and she genuinely wants to make a difference for our district.” Prominent attendees included Dr. Fredric Mishkin, former Vice Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System; Lois Bronz, former Westchester County legislator for the 8th District; fellow Dobbs Ferry School Board Jeanne Ceccolini, Meg Lauer and Lynne Black and Richard Sitman, Executive Director, Summit School, Nyack. Anna gave a short inspirational speech to the gathering about the need for change in Albany. She discussed her views on health care insurance premiums, unfunded educational mandates, excessive school district reporting requirements and the need to help small business create jobs. School Board members from other school districts in the 92nd District as well as teachers and administrators also came out to show their support. “The most amazing thing about the party was the response to Anna,” said Paul Sterne, Anna’s husband, “I am always amazed at how she connects with people and gets them involved. She leads by being herself which is sincere, honest and humble.”
