Jammu, March 23 – Jammu Parliamentary constituency of Jammu and Kashmir State, for which Notification has been issued today, will go to polls on April 16 during the first phase of Lok Sabha elections 2009.
While March 30, 2009 has been fixed as the last date for making nominations, scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on March 31. The last date for withdrawal of candidatures will be April 2. Polling, if necessary, will take place on April 16 from 7 AM to 5 PM.
The election process in the Parliamentary constituency shall complete before May 28.

48-hr dry days announced in polling constituencies, Counting day also a dry day :-
The Government has ordered 48-hour dry days in the Parliamentary constituencies going to polls during Lok Sabha elections.
In the Jammu Parliamentary constituency, dry days will be observed from April 14 (5 P.M) to April 16 (5 P.M), in Udhampur constituency from April 21 (5 P.M) to April 23 (5 P.M), in Anantnag constituency from April 28, (5 P.M) to April 30 (5 P.M), in Srinagar from May 5 (5 P.M) to May 7 (5 P.M), and in Baramulla and Ladakh Parliamentary constituencies, dry days will be observed from May 11 (5 P.M) to May 13 (5 P.M).
Polling in Jammu Parliamentary constituency is scheduled on April 16 in Udhampur on April 23, Anantnag on April 30, Srinagar on May 7, and in Baramulla and Ladakh Parliamentary constituencies, polling is scheduled on May 13.
The date of counting i.e. May 16 will also be observed as dry day through out the State.
During the dry days, no spirituous, fermented or intoxicating liquors or other substances of like nature shall be sold, given or distributed at a hotel, eating house, tavern, shop or any other place, public or private, within a polling area during the period of 48 hours, ending with the hour fixed for the conclusion of poll for any election in the polling area.
