History was made on Friday in Karnataka, as the Governor’s rule of 7 Months laid off and First Saffron Government taken Oath to serve the people.
B S Yeddyurappa fulfilled his dream of becoming a no-strings attached Chief Minister by taking Oath in the name of farmers and the God.
The CM inducted 29 persons, into his Cabinet which sprinkles the old and the new, the tested and the debut-makers.
Out of six independents who helped him cross the 113 mark to form the government, 5 were inducted of the cabinet rank.
Out of the 30 Ministers 19 are the first time cabinet members.
As the size of the ministry in Karnataka cannot exceed 34 following a cap under the Constitution that it shall not cross 15 percent of the House strength, there 4 berths still to be filled.
Expansion will be likely in a month. Almost all castes are given priority in the allocation of ministeries.
Of the 29 districts, 18 have got representation in the cabinet.
About the community wise the allocation is as follows:
Lingayats – 7, SC – 7, Vokkaliga – 4, Brahmin – 3, OBC – 5, ST – 1, Minority – 2, Vaishya – 1.
The party is planning to make the Senior Party member and the most likely to everyone, Mr. Jagadish Shettar as the Speaker.
K G Boppaiah will be the protem speaker.
