Honestly speaking distance between Lal Chowk in Srinagr of Kashmir division is not less than 300 kms to Satwari Chowk in cantonment area of Jammu division. Closing, Jawahar tunnel, only road link to Kashmir, sealing single Srinagar airport and withdrawing rail movement in Valley, not connected to rest of country yet, is under-stable for foiling flag hoisting attempts of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), but throwing entire Jammu region under dense police deployment is new twist in the game. For the last six decades to stop such events from taking place similar methodologies were brought in practice. Will BJYM unfurl national flag in Lal Chowk or not? Was there need of heavy deployment of police in Jammu and was it wise to seal Lakhanpur Bridge? These are the questions making rounds in the brains of Jammu and Kashmir people.
“It not for the first time when any political party has announced to unfurl tri-colour in Lal Chowk, but every year one or the other party from Jammu announce to do so but are being restricted in Nagrota or some where in Udampur without giving any hype” said a citizen Raj Singh. He said that after the outbreak of terrorism in Kashmir, people in Jammu set an example of brotherhood by not allowing vested interests to play their dirty game. “But I cannot understand why government freeze life in entire Jammu region including Rajouri-Poonch and Doda-Bhderwah highways” Singh added.
Under prevailing situation life of common people has turned bizarre as BJP gave shut down call in Jammu and separatists in Kashmir. Government shut national highway and schools and other educational institutions. Horrifying atmosphere across the Jammu and Kashmir state has restricted commoners to go out of their homes. Shopkeepers, vegetable vendors and milk suppliers advised customers to collect essentials for coming day in advance as they are not sure whether they would be allowed to move or not.
“We voted for peace and prosperity and not for shut downs and restrictions, to which people are subjected unwillingly” said Bharat Bushan a law graduate and added that constructing roads, bridges and buildings is no more fascinating people. Parroting development and making it an agenda no more amounts to ability and capability of politicians as it is an ongoing process in every developing country and democracy. People want peaceful life and politicians give them trouble for achieving political targets, he added.
