Staffetta Quotidiana and Fondazione Energia awarded Flavio Cattaneo, Terna’s CEO, the recognition of Man of the Year, a prize that since 1992 has been assigned to those who during the course of the year have distinguished themselves in the energy sector.
"Terna, headed by Flavio Cattaneo, was at the center of the Italian energy and electricity sector’s transformation during 2011, a year of radical changes, and more than any other operator, had the merit of drawing attention to the problem, raising questions that await to be faced and resolved. Cattaneo also presented the essential tools for delineating an energy strategy, starting from the infrastructures necessary for supporting the new energy horizon up to 2020 and beyond, formed by a more balanced mix, energy saving, efficiency, smart grids and technological development. Lastly, he urged responsible action to be shared between public decision-makers, the regulator and industry".
These motivations led Staffetta Quotidiana and Fondazione Energia to awarding Flavio Cattaneo the recognition of Man of the Year, a prize that since 1992 has been assigned to those who during the course of the year have distinguished themselves in the energy sector. Last year the award was given to the undersecretary of the Ministry for Economic Development at the time and the year before to Guido Bortoni, head of the Ministry’s department then and now president of the Authority for Energy. In 2007, which marked the Staffetta’s 75 year anniversary, the recognition went to Corrado Clini, present Minister for the Environment, the year before to Emma Marcegaglia and in 2005 to Alessandro Ortis. The plaque was handed to Flavio Cattaneo at the end of the round table meeting "Liberalization and energy" organized in the afternoon in Rome at the Centro Studi Americani, attended by Guido Bortoni, Angelo Fanelli, director general of R&M Eni, Roberto Potì, central director of development at Edison and Agostino Re Rebaudengo, Aper president, coordinated by the editor of Staffetta and president of Ises Italia GB Zorzoli.
