Jammu, September 5 (Vijay Kumar) – BJP State Spokesperson Ramesh Arora on Saturday said that National Conference (NC) is misleading the public by raising controversial and provocating issues saying that accession of Jammu and Kashmir was accepted under compulsions and Sheikh Mohd. Abdullah was not in favour of the same.It is unfortunate that Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather,Ali Mohd. Sagar and Dr. Mustafa Kamal has gone ahead saying that the accession was not the will of Sheikh Abdullah.
In a statement Ramesh Arora said that they are doing so to strengthen their vote bank at the cost of integrity of this state of J&K and to compete with PDP. He called this tendency of making irresponsible, provocative statements as shameful on the part of NC leaders.
He said that it is admitted fact that all princely states were asked to express their consent, regarding accession with India or joining Pakistan a new country under formation in 1947. Maharaja Hari Singh, the then ruler of J&K state, signed the Instrument of Accession on 26th October 1947 and it was the same, which was signed by rulers of other states. Hence, the accession was complete and irrevocable. NC leaders who are making misleading statements must read the history, because Sheikh Abdullah was no one to give the consent for merger or not. There was no occasion for Sheikh Abdullah to agree or disagree over the decision. In 1953 Sheikh Mohd. Abdullah was rightly arrested by the government and Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru was in agreement to it.
Ramesh Arora further said that Sheikh Abdullah was a planted person by the British rulers. Infact, name of Muslim Conference was changed to National Conference, but, till date their attitude and thinking has not been changed and they remain communal. That is why they are making such type of irresponsible statements. During NDA government in 2002 their resolution of Autonomy was rightly rejected by government with one voice, as it was against the spirit of constitution of the state and that of the country.
Ramesh Arora said that Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru committed a mistake by referring our internal dispute of J&K to UNO and compelling the constituent assembly to keep provision of Article-370. Although this mistake was little bit corrected during Shimla agreement with declaration that both the countries endorsed the view that it is bilateral issue and will be resolved accordingly. Another historical mistake was committed again in 1975 when elected government headed by Mir Qasim, was asked to step down and Sheikh Abdullah was given power and thus revived "the old dead ideology". Ramesh Arora appealed the stalwarts of NC not to make provocative and irresponsible statements and should realize that our state is a sensitive state and any person who wants to protect national unity and integrity will not tolerate such utterances.
