Norwegian hunted Kashmiri Markhor paid 81200 US $.
CHITRAL: A Norwegian Hunter Mr. Oyvind Christensen hunted Kashmiri Markhor at Toshi area of Chitral who paid 81200 US $ for permit to hunt markhor. This is a large size Markho whose horns having the measured as 47 inches long and more than one and half meters tall of 100 KG of total weight. Chitral is famous for Kashmiri Markhor and every year million rupees earning in hunting permit head. Talking to this scribe Mr. Christensen said that Chitral is very peaceful place and the people of Chitral also very civilized and cooperative. Divisional Forest Officer Wild Life Imtiaz Hussain said that Chitral having more than 2000 Markhor and other wild life like Ibex, snow leopard and rare birds. He said that the concerned quarter through wild life awarding tender after proper bidding and the successful bidder is awarding hunting permit. He said Chitral issue 3 to 4 hunting permits and million of rupees earning by this way. 20% of total amount is getting by wild life department, 40% is granting to local community and 40% to conservation committee. Talking to this scribe Shahzada Gul general secretary of Al-Burkhan village conservation committee said that Chitral having 3000 Markhor but wild life issuing only 3 permits. He demanded from high ups of wild life to increae number of the permits from 3 to 6 permits per year to compensate the local community and volunteers of village conservation committee.
