Former England cricket star Ian Bothem after recieving honorary doctorate in sports science from Leeds Metropolitan University on friday.
He was awarded the accolade just a mile from the Headingley ground where he produced one of the most talked about innings in cricket history 27 years ago.
His 149 not out against australia turned the tide of the 1981 Test series and set up what was to become known as Bothem’s Ashes.
