Jammu,May 21 (Scoop News) –Indian Union Minister of State for Communication and Information Technology, Sachin Pilot today while paying rich tributes to the Former Prime Minister of India late Rajiv Gandhi who laid down his life for the unity and integrity of the country, described him as the great visionary leader who pioneered the cause of promoting information technology in the country. Rajiv Gandhis’ dream will be accomplished only when all 6.40 lakh villages in the country would be connected through internet and all facilities will be provided to the people at a single widow under e-governance, he added.
Sachin Pilot was speaking in one-day seminar on “Youth Against Terrorism” organized on the occasion of 19th death anniversary of late Rajiv Gandhiji at Abhinav Theatre Jammu. Chairman Coordination Committee, Saifu-din-Soz, Minister for Sports and Medical Education, R S Chib, Member Parliament, Madan Lal Sharma, Vice Chancellor Jammu University, Prof Varun Sharma also spoke on the occasion and paid rich tributes to the late Prime Minister.
Pilot further disclosed that nearly 10,000 mobile towers will be erected in the country during the current financial year to provide mobile connectivity to the left out areas with special focus on border and backward areas.
Earlier, the Union Minister also visited the multi-crore mega Gurjar Centre for Culture and Heritage being raised by Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust–a prestigious NGO of the State deeply committed for the educational advancement, social awakening and economic betterment of the tribal of the State.
Apprising the Union Minister about the salient features of the Gurjar Centre for Culture and Heritage the Chairman of the Trust, Masud A. Choudhary told the Union Minister that the multi-crore majestic and magnificent Gurjar Centre for Culture and Heritage – a unique one – it will have an auditorium, the first of its kind in the state, with a seating capacity of about 1200 persons to be used mostly for boosting cultural and literary activities of the tribals as also for promotion of Gojri Language. Raising of Gurjar Centre for Culture and Heritage, he said was the most cherished dream of the Trust which has now taken a concrete shape. The Complex, the Minister was told will have museum, art gallery, conference hall, publishing and research house. The Union Minister while appreciating the trust for raising such a mega complex said that such a big complex will be first of kind raised by the Tribals in the country and will greatly help in boosting the tribal, culture and language.
The Union Minister also visited the Trust Research Library which has recently been renovated and updated has now a collection of over 3000 books most of them on tribal culture, modes and ways. He was told that Library is being made use of research scholars mostly of
