Free boarding, lodging for stranded passengers at Jammu

 

Srinagar, January 18 (Scoop News) –Minister of State for Home  Sajad Ahmad Kichloo along with Provincial President National Conference Jammu,  Davinder Singh Rana today went to main Bus Stand, Jammu and assured the stranded passengers that the traffic movement on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, which has been closed as a pre-cautionary measures in the wake of weather forecast about heavy snowfall and snow avalanches in different parts of the state especially higher reaches and hilly areas, improves.

             Kichloo and  Rana said that the National Highway has been closed temporarily to protect any loss of life and property in case of any possible eventuality due to vagaries of weather and heaving snow and rain fall going on in various water zone areas of the state for last two days. They assured the stranded passengers that free boarding and lodging facilities will be provided to them till the vehicular movement is restored on the highway.

            The Minister directed the concerned officers to take stringent action against the profiteers especially those hoteliers who are charging exorbitant rates from the stranded passengers.

            Speaking to the people,  Kichloo said that redressal of the people’s grievances is the prime concern of the Omar led coalition government and “the service to humanity is its mission and goal”.

             Kichloo has also directed the police and civil administration to activate men and machinery to provide all possible respite to the people living in the snow bound areas of the state and ensure functioning of all the essential departments and health institutions so that people are not put to inconvenience.

             Kichloo has also called for activating different market checking squads to check black marketing, hoarding and profiteering by unscrupulous shopkeepers and traders, who are habitual to get undue advantage of the weather and road conditions during the winter season.
