CHITRAL: Some one thousands patients were examined  during a one day free Medical Camp at Varijun (Tehsil Mulkoh) where there is no doctor no health facilities in this backward area. Free Medical camp was held at newly constructed Rural Health Center building where there is no doctor no other staff since its establishment.  The medical camp was organized by Executive district Officer Health Dr. Sher Qayum. While a number of doctors and paramedical staff from District Headquarters Hospital Chitral as well as Chitral Scouts examined the patients who participated there on volunteer basis. Dr. Rahman Aman, Dr. Faizul Mulk Eye Specialist, Dr. Saad Maluk ENT Specialists,  Dr Qasim Dental surgeon, Dr. Muhammad Zahid Medical Specialist, Dr. Farman, Lady Doctor Hafiza Saima, LHV Farida, LHV Haseena, Female Medical Technician Yasmin, Charge Nurse Tahira, Male Nurse and paramedics staff from Chitral  Scouts were  Fazal Muhammad, Muhammad Rafi, Sher Afzal and Noroz from Nursing Unit of Chitral Scouts (paramilitary forces of the district) participated in the free medical camp. 

 

Talking to this scribe a lady patient Shagufta Naz said that although a new building of RHC has been completed but it was still not handed over to health department due to some internal stuff. She said there is no Doctor in this hospital while an old Basic Health Unit has been taken over by Peoples Primary Health Initiative (PPHI) but there is also no doctor by PPHI and that is why people of the area facing great problems especially women folk are suffering badly. She said that in case of emergency (delivery cases etc) women folk are being rushing to Booni or Chitral hospital taking 3 hours journey  but sometimes they expired on their way before reaching hospital due to deteriorated conditions of the road. A large number of patients from the area approached this medical camp where they were examined by specialist doctors and they were also given medicines free of cost. People of the area highly appreciated this step by health department who arranged this free medical camp. Social and political circle of the area demanded from high ups of health department for taking over the RHC building by health department  and demanded for fulfillment of vacant posts of Doctors and paramedics in the newly constructed health center.
