Free text books being distributed among 7.25 lakh children of
Srinagar, November 01: (Scoop News) – The Minister for School Education, Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed has disclosed that the government would provide full set of text books free of cost to 7.25 lakh students from class Ist to 8th who have recently passed respective examinations in the Kashmir division.
The Minister was reviewing the functioning of the schools and examination process being conducted in the valley at a meeting held here today. The meeting was attended by the senior officers of Education department and Board of School Education.

The Minister directed the concerned officers to ensure that the text books reach all the schools of each education zone upto November 6, 2010, so that the books are distributed among the children before the new classes start in their respective schools.
Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed appreciated the teachers for conducting examinations smoothly and in a transparent manner. He also congratulated students who qualified for the new classes and expressed gratitude to the parents for extending wholehearted support to the government in this regard. He said distribution of full set of text books to the children is an incentive to arrest drop out tendency among the poor children.
Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed said that November 14, 2010 would be celebrated as Children’s Day across the state at district, tehsil and zonal levels. In this connection directions have been issued to all the concerned officers. This day, he said, would be celebrated in all the educational institutions.
