<p>According to wikipedia, yellow journalism is that ‘features scandal-mongering, sensationalism, jingoism, or other unethical or unprofessional practices’. I searched for ‘dirty journalism’ or ‘dirty media’ but there was not any definition available. It may because it is not discussed before. In my view, dirty media is that which is promoting terrorism and extremism worldwide. Newspapers, news agencies, TV and radio channels and magazines of this category give excessive coverage to the terrorist activities, exaggerate about their achievements and thus help promoting terrorism. And proudly describe it as ‘independence of media.'</p>
<p>The negative effects of media’s coverage of terrorist activities are discussed in the <a href="http://www.petitiononline.com/ah2h1979/petition.html">petition</a> I have written some days ago, this time I felt a need to discuss which media is responsible for this role. Let’s face the fact that some major western media organisations, like BBC, CNN, etc. are responsible for this because local media don’t have its own track and only follow which is covered by them. The western media give too much attention to what the terrorists do and not only this, it portrays the terrorists as heroes by giving them extraordinary attention and pay huge amounts for their interviews.</p>
<p>As the local media outlets and journalists are paid thousands of dollars for an interview of a low rank terrorist leader, they encourage the terrorists’ activities and by written articles in their support, people are persuaded to join them. For example, Pakistan’s Urdu media, including BBCUrdu, has devoted itself to report exaggeratedly about the Taliban and Alqaeda’s activities and is acting a deep role in this dirty game of promoting terrorism. Urdu newspapers and TV channels give the terrorists a big favour and act like it is a big partner in terrorism and the war on terrorism.</p>
<p>I wonder why the so-called journalists don’t feel their responsibility. Aren’t they the cream of the society? When the cream is decayed, how the society can remain healthy? It is media’s irresponsible coverage of the terrorists that they grow every passing day and get strength. Their strength is fall of the society. Their stability is a grave threat to the society.</p>
<p>These journalists even don’t think about the days when the terrorists were in control in Afghanistan and they were not allowing a single journalist to enter the country and cover the events. Now those terrorists have all the local and international media in their hands and what say and claim, it would be every media’s headlines.</p>
<p>I think we can’t call it an ‘independent media’; it is a totally dirty media which is promoting extremism and terrorism intentionally and unintentionally. It is also a severe concern of the state to have notice of this irresponsibility.</p>
<p>It should be clear to all that: if just sensationalism is YELLOW journalism, spreading and promoting terror must be called DIRTY. </p>
