The TPD of 2014 – Tobacco Products Directive

- Maximum size of refill containers is 10 ml
After the new rules, you can say goodbye to the normal size containers and buying in larger quantities to save your dollars. The maximum size of refill containers which contain nicotine will now be limited to 10 ml.
- Maximum size of cartridges shouldn’t exceed 2 ml
This will also mean an end to large tanks which people use as cartridge. Now the new size will be just 2 ml and there’s simply no justification to support this clause.
- E-cigs should provide a consistent amount of nicotine
The way in which this statement is interpreted can either break or make e-cigs. There’s no such device that can offer a consistent dose as hard as you want. The conventional cigarettes even don’t have to abide by this silly requirement.
- The refill containers should have leak-free refilling
The way you interpret this rule will determine how damaging this can be. There’s no system that can ensure leak-free refilling as this depends entirely on the user. One of the most important goals of the new TPD is to keep e-cigarettes at a safe distance from the hands of children or from the young generation.
