G.R. Sufi appointed as first Chief of J&K Information Commission

 Jammu, January 27 (Scoop News) – The Committee to recommend the State Chief Information Commissioner and State Information Commissioners for the State Information Commission under Right to Information Act today met here.

            In a consensus decision the Committee chaired by Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah and attended by the Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand and leader of the single largest Opposition party in Legislative Assembly, Mehbooba Mufti recommended the name of G.R. Sufi for the coveted post of State Chief Information Commissioner for Jammu and Kashmir.

            A senior officer of Indian Revenue Service, 1977 batch, G.R. Sofi is presently Chief Commissioner, Income Tax, Amritsar Region, which includes Jammu and Kashmir also.

            The Committee will meet again before the start of Assembly session to finalize the names of two State Information Commissioners for the State Information Commission.
