Jammu, February 10 (Scoop News) A government working on wrong prorities and beset with scams, scandals and corruption cases has helplessly lost the capacity or potential to deal with pressing problems concerning common people, the result of which is regular recurrence of road accidents. This was alleged here today by BJP State Chief Spokesperson & National Executive Member Dr. Jitendra Singh while reacting to the tragic road accident on Friday morning in which 22 people were killed when a mini bus in which they were travelling fell from a hilly road into the Chenab river at Shoron Morh in Gandoh tehsil in Jammu province.
Dr. Jitendra Singh said that frequent road accidents on this route due to negligent rash driving and overloading is a part of the all pervasive corruption scenario in the state where the traffic regulatory authorities turn a blind eye and the money that exchanges hand is shared right across upto administration high-ups and minister. Despite repeated pleas, the government has shown a non-serious response and after each such tragedy, the government functionaries including ministers indulge in cosmetic exercise of issuing condolence statements and visiting the spot of tragedy, he added.
Dr. Jitendra Singh said the coalition NC-Congress government must get its priorities right and instead of harping on inconsequential and populist issues like AFSPA, the Chief Minister must concentrate on correcting the foundational fallacies in governance.
Referring to the detailed report of today’s accident submitted to the party headquarters by District President Bhaderwah Dalip Parihar, Dr. Jitendra Singh said the erstwhile district Doda BJP leaders had repeatedly urged for effective traffic regulation in the sector but the state authorities had never taken this seriously. The party has demanded immediate adequate compensation and ex-gratia relief to the deceased and injured with not less than Rs. one lakh for each of the injured and free medical aid.
