I may be the only person who notices this, or it simply may be a figment of my imagination, but why does it seem as gas prices increase, so does the amount of road construction? I know it sounds silly, but I honestly believe the minute gas prices start to climb, every road crew in America starts the endless road repair project; the one that will continue until sometime in 2015.
There is a correlation here; one of the most repeated gas saving tips is don’t let your car idle unnecessarily. Don’t go through the drive-thru, don’t make unnecessary stops, don’t leave your car running, and so on; yet when you are caught by the flagger holding the interminable stop sign, you are doing everything you have just been told not to do, especially when it’s 90+ degrees outside, and you are not about to give up your air conditioning, no matter what a gallon of gas costs.
It makes you wonder if the same people who control the oil prices also control the road construction schedules.
