Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar, who was asked to choose between his media commitments and role as hthe chairman of ICC Cricket Committee, has relinquished his job wity the game’s world governing to the ICC on Wednesday, a day after chairing the Cricket Committee meeting which concluded here on Tuesday, ICC’s acting Chief Executive officer David Richardson said here on Thursday.
South African allrounder Shaun Pollock, who recently retired from the game, has been inducted into ICC’s Cricket Committee. " I hope to pass on the benefit of my experience for hthe betterment of the game," Pollock said in Mumbai. The ICC had put Gavaskar on notice after discussin the potential for a conflict of int3erest for a person chairing the ICC Cricket Committee while, at the same time, working for a media outiet in its meeting in March in Dubai, Gavaskar said with more and more cricket it was not possible for him to do justice with the top jobs.
