Gandhi Global Family remembers Mahatma Gandhi on his 143rd birth anniversary in Jammu

Jammu, October 02, (Scoop News)- In a simple but impressive programme organized by Gandhi Global Family at Dewan-e-Aam Mubarak Mandi Jammu, 145th Birth Anniversary of FATHER OF NATION was celebrated with high zeal and fervour by a huge gathering comprising of all walks of life including students from various Schools, Colleges, Academicians, Winter Capital administration, prominent citizens, Women Activists and NGOs.

Thousands of devotees from urban as well as from rural areas in their traditional dress keeping National Flag in their hands, chanting Bhajans of Gandhiji of all age were involved in paying floral tributes to Father of Father of Nation at Dewan-E-Aam. Students from various Schools and Colleges presented very high quality Cultural, Bhajans and Patriotic songs. Rich Tributes were also paid to Former Prime Minister of India Lal Bahadur Shastri on his 110th Birth Anniversary. Padamshri S.P. Varma Vice President Gandhi Global Family presented Indo-UN Pins to Shri Shant Manu Divisional Commissioner, Prof. M.S. Isher vice Chancellor Jammu University. Shri Ajeet Sahu Dy. Commissioner Jammu, Dr. B.S. Pathania Director Health Services, Jammu for their contributions towards society on behalf of Director United Nations Information Centre for India and Bhutan, New Delhi. Students from Govt. Gandhi Memorial Science College, Jammu as young Gandhians were also honoured by Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Vice Chancellor Jammu University, and Deputy Commissioner Jammu for carrying forward the tradition of Prabhat Phari continuously. Pledge of upkeeping peace, harmony and clean India was also taken by all. Gandhi Jayanti is also celebrated as international non-violence day so the message of Secretary General of UNO Mr. Ban Ki-Moon issued from VIENNA was also circulated on the occasion amongst the participants. Two minutes silence was also observed in the memory of those who lost their lives recently due to the flash floods in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

\Speaking on the occasion Shant Manu Divisional Commissioner Jammu stressed upon the unity of the country to carry forward the path of peace, development and providing employment. The cleanliness of self and then surrounding is of paramount value if we want to carry forward ourselves and country we must follow the principle of Mahatma Gandhiji. Gandhiji’s Principles are the only way for India to lead the world. Prof. M.S. Isher Vice Chancellor of Jammu University stressed upon to follow the message of humanity which Mahatma was preaching to all which is essential for the sustainable prosperity of the country. He advised the gathering particularly youths to follow the teaching of Mahatma.

Ajit Sahu Dy. Commissioner Jammu stressed upon to follow the principles laid down by the freedom fighters and participate in eradicating the social evils prevailing in the society. He appealed to participate in Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Kiran Wattal Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation and R.L. Bharti former member PSC and Advisor GGF, J&K also spoke on the occasion. While addressing the participants the participants present S.P. Varma said that for the last 25 years we are celebrating the birth anniversary of Mahatma at Dewan-E-Aam and usually people from all faiths pay their floral tributes to Father of Nation coming from far off places. He informed that in all the states and UTs of the Country including few foreign countries the Gandhi Global Family is organizing similar programmes. Smt. Shakuntla Joshi Vice-President Gandhi Global Family J&K conducted the proceedings. Abdul Majid Malik Advisor GGF J&K along with hundreds of people from rural area participated and presented welcome address. Message of National President of Gandhi Global Family Ghulam Nabi Azad leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha and former Chief Minister J&K was also read on the occasion.
