Today (Friday December 5) is the last day of campaigning in this year’s general election. All the major parties have lined up a series of activities in order to win those who might still be undecided.
Tomorrow is a day set aside to give respite to voters and to set a peaceful tone for the election which comes off on December 7.
Campaigning in Ghana is usually full of tension especially between the two major parties – the NPP and the NDC. There are usually accusations and counter accusations from each side.
Most people are now decided on whom to vote for. Expectations are very high as people look at this election as the one that will send out a possitive signal to the world that there is hope for Africa, following recent post election conflicts in Kenya and Zimbabwe.
What most citizen are wishing for, apart from their parties winning, is peace after the whole process. There were some disturbing incidences here and there during the run up but on the whole, it was a peacefull campaign.
Who wins? The electoral commission has promised that the results will be out within 72 hours after the end of voting.
