Ghana’s Sports Minister on leave for investigation

Ghana’ sports minister has been asked by the President to proceed on leave pending investigation in corruption charges levelled against him by the Chief Accountant of his ministry.

There were calls on him both from his party and the opposition to resign but he has refused. That means there was nothing left for the President apart from this action.

Resignation of this kind are almost absent in Ghana politics, but it was being expected that Mr Mubarak will set an example.

He is still confident that he will come out clean after the investigations are over.

The president promised that he will not spare any official in his government if he is found to be corrupt.

All are wating to see how this case will be handled. For now the Deputy Sports minister Nii Nortey Dua will be acting in his place.

Meanwhile Ghana’s national team the Black Stars have beaten their Malian counterparts 0:2 in Bamako, Mali. This was without most of the well known stars who are out due to injury and other reasons.
