Adam Gilchrist’s rapid fire 71 off 45 balls against the Royal Challengers yesterday night, paved the way for Deccan Chargers’ second consecutive win in the 2nd season of IPL-2.
Gilly’s quick fire scoring also saw Deccan Chargers record 184 for 6, which is the highest score of IPL-2, surpassing Chennai Super Kings last night’s score of 179 against Royal Challengers.
Gilly was fluent in striking the ball from the very beginning, scoring almost at will off the bowling of Praveen Kumar & Darryl Steyn against the Royal Challengers.
The entire innings of the Deccan Chargers saw them stroke 12 sixes in the match. Later, Rohit Sharma added to the fireworks by scoring three consecutive sixes of the bowling of Anil Kumble.
In reply, Dravid’s quick fire 48 and Virat Kohli’s maiden fifty could not save the day for Royal Challengers, as they fell short by 24 runs; losing 2nd IPL-2 encounter in succession.
Later at the press conference, the captain of Deccan Chargers Adam Gilchrist heaped all praises on Rohit Sharma and said that he had a great future ahead in this shortest version of the game.
