Gorkha Janmukti Morcha President’s first direct talk with West Bengal Chief Minister has failed. The State Government refused to accept Gorkha Janmukti Morcha’s demands including the demand to hold political meetings in Dooars. Speaking to the press in Nepali after meeting the Chief Minister, Bimal Gurung said, "Since the talks have failed, we will not withdraw our agitational programmes and continue with our fast unto death. We will also call for strike on the 7th of Febraury in the whole of Gorkhaland region."
Gorkha Janmukti Morcha President also pledged that the party would organise a massive rally in Dooars which will be attended by 4 – 5 lakh adivasis within a fornight. He was accompanied by the party General Secretary Roshan Giri and three Adivasi leaders.
The GJM President is slated to meet the Governor today.
