Former professional football and hockey player and wrestler Glenn Kulka, 44, won his first mixed martial arts fight against Wayne (X-Man) Xilon last weekend.
Glenn Kulka’s 6’3" 255 body was toned and muscular when he entered the ring against Xilon in Gatineau Quebec’s Robert Guertin Arena on Saturday. He was able to get a TKO in the first round after pummeling Xilon with knees and punches in the corner of the ring.
Kulka played for the CFL for 11 seasons during the 1990s and also had a stint in professional Canadian hockey and with the World Wrestling Federation. In more recent years, he has been a sports radio host in Ottawa.
Glenn Kulka believes that his mental toughness and quickness in reading his opponent will help him in his career as a mixed martial artist. But he understands that since he is entering the sport so late, his 44-year-old body probably can’t stand more than 10-15 of the grueling fights. What might come after those 10 fights for Glenn Kulka? Maybe it will be a few boxing bouts, he says.
