Jammu, October 15 (Scoop News) -Realising the importance of regular handwashing with soap, students of PAHL, an initiative of the Damodhar Satri Udyog Sanstha, on Friday organised a lecture in their centre where young children were informed about the health benefits of regular handwashing.
This year the theme of the global handwashing day is “Saving Lives through Handwashing with Soap.”
PAHL teachers informed the students about the health benefits of adopting the practice of handwashing with soap.
The United Nations General Assembly has designated October 15 as the Global Handwashing Day.
Over 150 children, enrolled under project PAHL, were informed that handwashing with soap is among the most effective and inexpensive ways to prevent diarrhoeal diseases and respiratory infections.
On the occasion founding member Damodhar satri Udyog sanstha Vijay Zadoo, PAHL teachers Aarti Jathwar, Sukanya Chib, and Sunita Chandra delivered lectures and educated the street and underprivilged children about the importance of handwashing.
The students were informed that It is common to find people using their hands unhygienically (cleaning of the bottom after using the toilet, picking of nose, cleaning ears, scratching itchy parts of the body, rubbing eyes, cleaning mucus from nose, coughing and sneezing in the hands, scratching hair, handling money, touching contaminated surfaces among others) but will go ahead to use the same contaminated hands to eat and serve others with food and the same should be avoided for a healthy life style.
On the occasion the PAHL students also took pledge to spread the message of importance of handwashing for healthy life.
