Jammu and Kashmir: Government
Medical College (GMC) doctors added one more feather to their crown by
allegedly beating ruthlessly to an attendant in the morning hours. Three
doctors and two security personals allegedly summoned victim to doctor’s room
and wounded his head. Later, victim felt acute pain in his liver suspecting
damage of the organ, and was operated for more than one and a half hour,
reports said.
Identified
as Nazir Ahmed (37) son of Punna of Ramban was referred to GMC by district
hospital doctors of Ramban on May 13 for treatment to snake bite to his young
daughter, he said. Waiting with out care and treatment for a night helplessly
in ward 14, Nazir approached to doctors on duty on May 14 and apprized them
pathetic conditions of his daughter, he added.
Losing
control over his emotions Nazir complained doctors against their careless
attitude. To this doctors, in a bid to teach him how to talk and behave with
doctors’ Dr. Avinash son Raj Gopal of R. S Pura along with his colleagues
summoned attendant Nazir in side doctors room and taught him how to behave and
talk to doctors. Taking cognizance intelligently, CMO Dr Shivani Malhotra
advised the wounded Nazir for MLC. To which doctors further harass him.
News
spread across the town like wild fire and people, particularly Gaggers, started
assembling in the premises of GMC and staged protest against hospital staff and
doctors. Several Gujjar leaders including, Choudawary
Shah Mohmmad, demanded justice for the victim by punishing the guilty
doctors.

.Medical Superintendent, Dr. Manoj Chalotra out rightly rejected issue by
saying that nothing like that had happened as per his knowledge. Meanwhile,
Divisional Commissioner, Dr Pawan Kotwal who was by chance in GMC, after
hearing noise inspected spot and assured protesting people for strict action
against erring doctors.
Doctors
are given respect after the all mighty for noble job of saving lives and curing
wounds of patients. Bizarre is the situation that attendants and patients are
now being beaten to pulp by the noble doctors. Stories of ignorance,
carelessness and rude behavior are
common but beating patients and attendants for their no fault is beginning of
new era.
