A Goliath crane collapsed today in Quincy, Massachusetts. So far one person has been pronounced dead, but authorities are still trying to determine if anyone else is trapped under the Goliath crane’s wreckage.
Workers have been disassembling the Goliath crane for the last several weeks. Inspectors are trying to determine why the crane collapsed and if any safety rules were broken by either the company or workers, however this could take up to several months.
The Goliath crane was constructed in the 1970s in order to lift huge pieces of ships and tankers at the Fore River Shipyard.
