PESHAWAR, Mar 05 :- Left-arm pacer Muhammad Shakeel and spinner Saeed Mustansir guided Gomal to thumping victory against University of Sargodha in the semi-final of the HEC Inter-University Cricket Championship being played here at KMC ground on Thursday.
Muhammad Shakeel took three wickets for 21 runs in his six overs spell, Saeed Mustansir took three wickets for 11 runs by restricting University of Sargodha to 88 runs in 21.3 overs.
Earlier, University of Sargodha won the toss and invited Gomal University to bat first. Gomal University made 163 runs for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 25 overs. Hikmatullah made 62 with seven boundaries and two sixes. Muhammad Lukman scored 26 runs, Salman Shahid (27) with three boundaries, Muhammad Shakeel (25) were the leading contributors.
For University of Sargodha Muhammad Dabir took two wickets for 29 runs, Qasim Iqbal took one wicket and three players were run out.
In reply, University of Sargodha bowled out for 88 runs in 21.3 overs with only Muhammad Shakir (20) and Hassan Aslam (20) were the key runs takers, none of the other batsmen could cross the double figures.
For Gomal University Shakeel and Saeed Mustansir took three wickets each while Muhammad Shafiq, Akram took one wicket each.
Sohail Khan and Sajid Afridi supervised the match while Nadeem Khan acted as scorer.
The final and third position matches will be played on Friday.
