Good Food Can Change Your World

Good Food Leads to Good Health and Increases Your Life Span

As our world becomes more polluted, it is clear that we must now turn to Aquaponics as a way to grow clean healthy foods. It isn’t just our soils that have become depleted of nutrition and drenched with chemicals; our oceans are suffering from the same problem. The aquaculture industry is facing extinction unless they can find ways to feed the fish a healthy diet. It’s a global problem and it’s not going away anytime soon.

In edition 6 of the ASC magazine Mike Andrus tells of his journey to find solutions to the problems within the aquaculture industry. Without a good clean source of fish, aquaponics will not survive, so it is imperative that a solution be found. Mike expresses why he became excited by the idea of using Algae to fix these problems. Mike says the following in the article “we are polluting our oceans with diesel fuel, dumping waste, and overfishing these same oceans not to feed people, but to feed land-based farm raised fish. What if, we could grow and use algae biomass as a feedstock for fish feed. Indeed, we could then provide a permanent, renewable, reusable, sustainable, healthy, protein and Omega-rich based feedstock for the world’s farm raised fish. The fish may grow bigger and faster, live longer, produce more offspring, and provide a healthier, protein rich diet including essential omega fatty acids for us humans. WeFeedUs decided to make that happen!”

Many people are now aware of the dangers being posed by our current farming practices. There is less agricultural land to farm, water sources are drying up and our soils don’t have the same essential vitamins and minerals that they used to. In times of crisis, it has always been those who have opted to grow their own foods that have survived. People now live in more tightly packed urban communities, so having a large garden it out of the question.

On the other hand you can set up an aquaponics system on a balcony, in a small terrace area or in your backyard. You can produce enough food in this small area to supplement your family’s diet and give you healthier options. It isn’t hard to do and there is lots of information available on the Aquaponics Survival Communities Facebook fan page. Here you will find thousands of people, who understand the value of growing their own food. You can join us here at: https://www.facebook.com/AquaponicsSurvivalCommunities
