Goodbye and… Hello?

Coach Diego Simeone made his departure from Estudiantes official after beating Olimpo 2-0 Friday night.  "It pains me, but I know this was the best decision for me," said Simeone at the post game press conference.

This decision comes after he requested that there be additional reinforcements signed for the upcoming season as well as for the Copa Libertadores.

Simeone was in charge of the team for three tournaments and brought a title to La Plata for the first time in 24 years.  Now the rumor mill is cranked up to full speed announcing his eminent hiring at River Plate.  Simeone’s departure could also mean the end of the road for his former teammate and Estudiantes captain Juan Sebastián Verón who was given an ultimatum by DC United as far as his footballing future in Argentina.
