Government Girls Degree College Booni facing acute shortage of Staff

 

CHITRAL: Government Girls Degree college Booni founded in 2002 while classes started in July 2009. This is the only Girls college for thousands of female students of Sub division Mastuj . At present 835 students are reading  in this college but having hostel accommodation only for 50 students. Member Provincial Assembly Haji Ghulam Muhammad inaugurated another hostel for 50 students with the  grant of 14 million and after completion of this hostel total 100 students could be accommodated here.  A function was also held on the eve of inauguration ceremony of new hostel  in college Hall presided over by Afzaluddin Principal Govt. Degree college Booni for boys. Addressing in her welcome address Miss Hasina Wajib principal of this college thanked MPA for keeping keen interest in development of college. She said that the college facing acute shortage of staff. Besides her chairman Fazal Rehman, Sub Major retired Qalandar Shah, students of girls college, MPA Haji Ghulam Muhammad  and elites of the area also spoke on the occasion. They said that this is an overburden college but having less class rooms and only 2 Buses while students come from very far away location. They said that there is no lecturer for Physics, Political Science, Statistics, Geography, Pakistan Study etc since its establishment. While no lump sum grant was released to college for necessary maintenance and local purchase. Besides it there is no pipeline for water supply and its Library have very less number of books. They also raised the issue that non local Lecturers facing great problems in accommodation and the college also need a bachelor hostel for non local teaching staff. 

 

They also demanded for construction of more class rooms, hostel for staff and providing of more Buses for pick and drop of students belong to remote areas. Some students of the college also demanded for its up-gradation to post graduate level because mostly of girls students stuck off their higher education after completion of graduation from this college (only BA level)  because of no university campus and no post graduate college in the area. MPA Ghulam Muhammad assured for supporting this college and announce that Campus of Benazir University Sheringal will be open at Booni in near future. He also visited ongoing work of hostel building and emphasized on contractor and supervision staff   C &W department to not use any substandard quality material in this building. Because the college building and examination hall having big cracks in its wall and ceiling due to substandard materials. A play ground was also demanded for girls students of the college.
