Jammu, January 20 (Scoop News) – The State’s coalition should shed its policy of discrimination and treat all the regions equal in matters related to providing relief to the people affected by the natural calamities. It was stated by Dachhan-Marwah BJP Mandal President Ravi Kumar Parihar while charging the government of being working on snail’s pace in providing relief to the people affected by snowfall in different areas of erstwhile Doda district.
Ravi Kumar Parihar said that the recent unprecedented heavy snowfall in Dachhan, Marwah, Wardwan and other areas of Kishtwar have badly hit the normal life. Thousands of people have been affected by it. Many houses have been damaged. There are hundreds of vehicles still stranded on National Highway. There are cries for help but administration has shown least concern towards the mitigation of the sufferings of the people as majority of them belong to the minority community.
Parihar said that be it Doda, Kishtwar, Bhaderwah, repeated discrimination has been meted out to these hilly areas during the last 64 years in all matters and at all levels. Work on Patimhalla Dachhan 30/40kms road stretch is still hanging. Electrification of many villages in Dachhan is still a dream. There are reports of security forces being withdrawn from the remote area of Doda-Kishtwar, particularly militancy prone areas of Marwah Dachhan tehsil. Militants have killed several persons during the last two decades of militancy in this cut off area. The SPO’s and VDC members have been safeguarding the precious lives of innocent population during the militancy and their salary of Rs. 3000/- and Rs. 1100/- is meager also. They cannot make both their ends meet on this small sum. So the government should enhance their salaries be enhanced to Rs. 7000 per month and Rs. 4000 respectively.
Parihar further since the residents of many unelectrified areas of Dachhan are economically weak, so they may be provided with solar lights on the compassionate grounds at subsidized rates. Due to inadequacy of teaching staff in HSS Dachhan and Girls HSS Sounder, the students are suffering adversely. So adequate teaching staff, both lecturers and teachers may be provided to both the schools at the earliest. Providing water facility to village Prangas and Tunder be ensured. The large number of Passengers and residents of Dachhan-Marwah Blocks are stranded at Jammu/Kishtwar due to heavy snowfall and blockage of Jammu-Kishtwar Road and are facing hardships. They need to be shifted to their home locality through helicopter service. Separate education zone for the welfare of 25000 souls populace of Dachhan be set up.
Mandal Vice-president Narayan Dass and Mandal Secretary Mangat Ram were also present in the press conference.
Meanwhile a Senior Leader of People’s Democratic Praty (PDP) Kishtwar Mr Saddiqui has expressed his resentment over the ignorance of districts of Chenab Valley including Doda , Kishtwar and Ramban in all sectors. He said the districts are snow bound and the districts of KIshtwar and Doda have remained cut off from the rest of the state since 5th January, causing huge shortage of essential commodities including Ration, Vegetables, Kerosen , L.P.G. Medicine etc.
Mr Saddiqui said no Minister of State Government visited the Chenab Valley even to take stock of the position which clearly tells the sorry State of affairs of Government and tall and hollow claims of State Government led by Umar Abdullah. He demanded that such passengers be airlifted to their respective homes on priority so that they could take a sigh of relief.
He expressed the hope that State government would awake from deep slumber and take care of the people living in the district of Kishtwar, Doda and Ramban. He also urged the govt. and concerned authorities for early of Batote-Kishtwar National Highway from snow which has paralyzed these Districts.
R. S. Pathania, a senior Pradesh Youth Congress leader today pitched a fervent appeal for giving equal attention to the snow-covered areas of Jammu region too.
In a statement he said that a battery of ministers are camping in Kashmir Valley and supervising and monitoring related measures over there on the directions of Chief Minister and J & K PCC President.
R. S. Pathania said that fact remains that record and unprecedented snowfall has been also witnessed in areas of Jammu region and since the past fortnight civil supplies have totally been snapped off with a crisis-like situation prevailing in these areas. Feel of a government touch is totally missing over here with threats of a starvation and epidemic break-out looming large.
Another senior PDP leader Shahzad Khan lambasted the present coalition government for its step motherly treatment towards the border areas of Rajouri and Poonch. Khan had earlier conducted a tour of snow affected areas to take a stock of ground situation on account of the recent snowfall in the area and the condition of the people thereof.
In a statement Shahzad has criticized the government’s negligence towards the provision of essential commodities as well as relief to the people victimized by natural calamities.
Shahzad said the no authority from the government or the civil administration visited the snow hit areas of the district and people are suffering due to the negligence of the government and its agencies. It is sad that the Chief Minister and the concerned ministers visited almost all the affected places but no authority came to Rajouri or Poonch to listen to the woes of the people, he said. It is more unfortunate, said Shahzad that despite the show off tours by the authorities, relief work is only in papers and nothing is being made available on ground.
