Jammu, March 23, (Scoop News)-The Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has said the government would take the necessary steps to ensure peace on Border.
The Chief Minister said this while intervening in a question raised by Mr Yashpal Sharma in Legislative Council today.
Earlier, while replying to the main question Minister for Horticulture, Haj and Aquaf, Mr Abdul Rehman Veeri informed the house that 10 civilians have lost their lives and 89 civilians injured in Arnia, RS Pura, Hira Nagar and Savjian from 1st January, 2014 to 28th February, 2015.
The Minister said that the large number of families who were temporarily displaced due to firing from across the border were provide temporary shelter in Government buildings/private houses where all basic amenities like health care, power, food, blankets, temporary toilet, sanitation and drinking water facility were made available to them. He said that ex-gratia has also been provided out of District Red Cross Society Funds for the loss of live stock.
The Minister said for providing security to the border population at the time of firing from across the border, a revised proposal for construction of community type bunkers in identified border villages spread across the districts of Kathua, Samba, Jammu, Rajouri and Poonch has been submitted to the Centre Government which has been pursued accordingly.
The Minister said that Government has also submitted a proposal to the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs for bringing uniformity in the payment of compensation for death as well as permanent disability due to firing on IB/LoC in respect of persons other than Government employees. In the said proposal, loss of live-stock has also been proposed to be brought under the Ex-gratia Scheme. Matter is under consideration of the Government of India.
Mr Ghulam Nabi Monga, Mr Ajay Sadhotra, Mr Jehangir Hussain Mir, Mr Vibodh Gupta, Mr Yashpal Sharma, Mr Surinder Kumar Choudhary, Dr Shehnaz Ganai raised supplimentaries.
