Jammu, December 13 (Scoop News) – Responding to the public demand with regard to restoration of 1999 position near borders and proper rehabilitation of border people, Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand today reiterated the Governments resolve to demine all cultivable land along Indo Pak border and make the peasants self reliant and prosperous.
Deputy Chief Miinister was interacting with people during his extensive tour of Khour block today. During his visit to various villages which included Badwal, Gigrial, Dahlan and Raeyan, Tara Chand said since the people living near the borders have no other source of income than agriculture, the demining of land should be speeded up on war footing basis to set in a fresh green revolution of the area.
Referring to the water logging problem during monsoons, Deputy Chief Minister announced mega drain project to be started shortly for which sanction has already been conveyed by the central Government. Deputy Chief Minister also announced construction of several roads of the block which included Matyawas to Badwal, Barmana to Seouni, Kanni Dhaki to Kala, Bakore to Datyal via Prangla and Barore to Sensor, which would be constructed under NABARD at a cost of Rs. 8 crores. He said tenders are being floated for early execution of work so that people living in peripheries are connected with towns and cities.
Responding to several other demands raised by the people on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister directed the concerned officers accompanying to him to construct compound wall and take up filling of
Stressing for cooperation and coordination among Governmental agencies in implementation of developmental and welfare schemes, Tara Chand appealed people to pay electric bills and allied taxes to the Government so that the Government would make best use of these taxes for the progress and prosperity of the state.
Deputy Chief Minister also appealed for maintaining cleanliness in and around the Khour block to ensure healthy and hygienic conditions for healthy living.
Referring to unemployment problem, Deputy Chief Minister said that Government is organizing Rozgar Melas for creating awareness among the unemployed youth for setting up of their income generating units in their respective areas. He said that process of filling up of available vacancies in various departments is being undertaken by SSRB and other recruiting agencies to solve the unemployment crisis to some extent.
To augment the irrigation facilities in the area, Deputy Chief Minister said that in addition to Irrigation Schemes under execution, one more Tube-well has been sanctioned for Khour block. He said Government is making all out efforts to provide agricultural inputs to boost agriculture sector in the area.
Members of Scheduled Caste Advisory Board, Chhaju Ram, Harnam Dass, Block President Puran Singh, Working Block President Suram Singh, senior officers of various departments, prominent citizens and large number of people were present on the occasion.
