Srinagar, October 15 (Scoop News) – Several important issues relating to the management of pilgrimage to the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Amarnathji during 2012 were discussed with Principal Secretary, Home, . B. R. Sharma, and Director General of Police, . Kuldeep Khoda at a high level meeting chaired by . N. N. Vohra, Governor, who is Chairman of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, at Raj Bhavan here last evening.
This meeting was convened as part of the Board’s ongoing efforts at advance planning for ensuring better management and improved facilities for the Yatris. Several important issues were discussed, including the need for improvement of track conditions and sanitation infrastructure, improved weather forecasting methods, more effective management of the flow of pilgrims across the Check Barriers at Chandanwari and Domel, strengthening of Access Control systems at all the Camp locations, and need for enhancing the Yatris awareness of the Board’s Yatra Advisories, particularly those relating to undergoing a medical checkup before commencing the Yatra.
Addressing the meeting, the Governor emphasized the need for advance planning to timely put in place all the required arrangements for ensuring greater comfort of the Yatris alongside ensuring effective management of the pilgrimage. He emphasized the high importance of checking the Registration status of the pilgrims before permitting them to proceed to the Base Camps, to ensure against avoidable difficulties being faced by them.
