BUDGAM/Srinagar, October 16 (Scoop News) – Vice Chairman, State Advisory Board for the Development of Gujjar & Bakerwal Board, Ch. Bashir Ahmed Naaz today visited various areas included Katchwari, Arizal, Rayiar, Khan Sahib and Daragar in Budgam district and took stock of the problems faced by the people of these areas especially Gujjar & Bakerwal Community.
Senior officers of various departments of district administration Budgam, District President, Indian National Congress (INC), Mohammad Maqbool Bhat and other local leaders and workers of (INC) accompanied the Vice Chairman during his visit.
Addressing a series of public gathering at different places including Rayiar Khan Sahib, Naz said that government has taken numerous steps for the upliftment of the people especially weaker section of the society. He said various welfare schemes have been launched in the State to improve the living standard of the people in general and Gujjar and Bakerwal in particular. He said special focus is being given towards the development of the people living in far flung and remote areas. He said money is not problem adding that centre is providing liberal funding in every sector with the aim to improve the socio-economic condition of the people of the State. He said and added that need is to identify the hitherto the ignored areas so that DPRs under R&B, Rural Development, Irrigation, PHE, Health, Education and Forest sectors can be formulated and forwarded to the concerned quarters for necessary sanction.
Naaz said that the matter regarding converting of 1000 existing seasonal schools of the State into mobiles schools is under active consideration of the government. He said girls Hostel for Gujjar and Bakerwal has been sanctioned for Khan Sahib area.
Enroute, several deputations met the VC and apprised him about their individual and collective problems. These included installation of electric poles, transformers, opening of Anganwari centre in Gujjar, Bakerwal populated areas, construction road from Kaitch main road to Goi- Dragan, speedy disposal of IAY as per 60% quota fixed for Gujajr and Bakerwal. Naaz heard then patiently and assured them that their genuine demands can be looked into.
