Govt endeavoring to nurture Urdu as official language of J&K

 

 Jammu, January 21 (Scoop News) – Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah Friday said that government was actively endeavoring to nurture State’s official language Urdu. He said measures were afoot to post urdu teachers in the primary schools and propagate the language along with Hindi and English.

          “During my visits to various areas, people across the State represented for posting of urdu teachers and I have directed the concerned to take urgent measures in this direction”, he said adding that teaching Urdu language at primary level would help in a big way in its development and universalization.

          Speaking after releasing a book of Urdu poetic collection “Warood” by Khalid Karar, here at a function, Omar said that the works of poets and writers infuse enthusiasm in readers and encourage the propagation of languages.

          Omar said that in the development of Urdu, poets and writers have contributed a lot in the past and are also giving their best at present. “This trend should continue and young poets like Khalid Karar encouraged to propagate Urdu in the State through their works of high literary tastes.

          The Chief Minister said his government would encourage talent in the field and take all measures at all levels in propagating urdu reading and writing in the State.

          Speaking on the occasion Vice Chairman, Pahari Development Board, Mushtaq Ahmad Bukhari threw light on the poetic collection of Karar and said that Poonch and Rajouri have produced writers and poets of immense fame. He thanked the Chief Minister for presiding over the function and laid stress for giving fillip to the Urdu reading and writing in the State. 

          In his welcome address the legislator Mohammad Yusuf Taing narrated the role of Urdu in binding the three regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. He said right from the days of Maharaja Gulab Singh Urdu contributed a lot in weaving the warp and woof of amity and brotherhood between various sections of the society and the regions.

          He appreciated the Chief Minister’s efforts in strengthening and developing Urdu in the State. He expressed the hope that an Urdu Academy would by established in the State soon for its sustained development.

          In his thanking giving speech, Media Consultant to the Government, Farooq Nazki also highlighted the importance of Urdu in solidifying the ties between various sections of the society and the regions in the State. He said Urdu has always nurtured amity and cemented inter society and inter regional bonds. “The development of the language is all the more necessary at present to maintain and strengthen this characteristic of the State”, he said and emphasized the need for giving boost to the language.

          Present on the occasion were Advisors to the Chief Minister, Mubarak Gul and Devender Singh Rana, legislator, Mohammad Rashid Qureshi, Provincial President, National Conference, Rattan Lal Gupta, various poets and writers and a large gathering of urdu lovers.
