A legal notice has been served on behalf of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on the government to withdraw its notice asking Khaleda to leave her Dhaka Cantonment house.
Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon, a lawmaker and counsel for Khaleda, this morning served the notice asking the government to withdraw its notice within five days.
In the notice, he said if the government doesn’t withdraw the notice asking Khaleda Zia to leave her Dhaka Cantonment house, legal action would be taken against the government.
The legal notice said the lease of Khaleda Zia’s cantonment house was duly registered on July 13, 1981 with the office of the sub-register, Tejgaon, Dhaka.
Since then, for more then 27 years she has been residing at the house and enjoying with her family.
Barrister Khokon told newsmen, "A writ petition will be filed with the HC challenging the legality of the government notice if the government doesn’t withdraw it."
