Jammu, September 18 (Scoop News) – Asserting that his government was making every effort to create a congenial atmosphere for an era of peace and progress, J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday Omar said that it needs cooperation of the people as certain elements in the state were creating hurdles in taking forward its people friendly policies in an effective manner.
Omar said that the Government will continue its endeavours to meet the aspirations of the people of the state despite all odds while hoping that the common masses will extend their sincere cooperation to put the state back on the track of progress and development.
The Chief Minister was interacting with a cross-section of people, including representatives of various political, social and religious organizations, during his day long tour to border districts of Poonch and Rajouri.
Chief Minister who flew to the border townships also listened to the demands putforth by deputations representing various areas and sought their suggestions for accelerating developmental activities in the twin districts.
He however said that the government will continue to embark on its agenda of peace and progress to achieve its cherished goals and asked the people to extend their cooperation to frustrate the designs of those who have developed vested interest in keeping the state in a state of uncertainty and turmoil
Pointing out that the state was passing through a crucial phase with continuous disturbance in the valley for the last three months, he said the impact of the situation in
Referring to the incident of firing in Mendhar district which led to loss of three precious lives, Omar regretted the use of brute force on the protestors. He said some forces were taking advantage to propagate their political agenda by inciting the religious sentiments of the people and provoking them to resort to arson and vandalizing of the public property unmindful of its repercussions in the long run. He said taking law in hand and resorting to torching of government offices ultimately hurt the interest of the people as they will face great inconvenience in future in finding revenue and other records.
Omar asked the people not to fall prey to the provocations by the vested interest and observe utmost restrain in such situations.
He hailed the people of border districts particularly that of Rajouri for maintaining harmony even in face of highly provocative situations and hoped that they will continue to act sensibly in future as well.
During his day long tour a large number of deputations also met the Chief Minister and highlighted the problems and demands of their respective areas.
Omar gave a patient hearing and assured the members for an early redressal of their demands and problems.
He also discussed developmental and other issues with the respective district administrations and issued directions for further streamlining of functioning of departments.
