BASIS signed sponsorship agreement with Grameenphone Ltd. today, Saturday December 2008 at Surma, Pan Pacific Sonargoan Hotel. As per the agreement GrameenPhone (GP) is accredited now as the key Sponsor of the upcoming BASIS SOFTEXP0 2009.
Ms. Rubaba Dowla, Director, Marketing, Grameenphone Ltd., and Habibullah N Karim, President, BASIS, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.
BASIS SoftExpo 2009, the largest ICT event in the country, is to take place from 27 to 31 January 2009 at Bangladesh China Friendship Conference Centre. SOFTEXPO has already become the biggest and most influential platform of interaction between different groups including Software providers, buyers, IT users, professionals, media, policy makers, development partners, students as well as a wide range of people across the society.
GP’s acting Market Communication Head Moeen Tariq and Head of Sponsorship & Events Ferdousur Rahman; A Towhid, Chairman, Standing Committee on National Events; Shameem Ahsan, Vice President; M.A. Mubin Khan, Director in Charge of the Standing Committee on National Events; Nahid Ahmad, Secretary General; Ali Akbar Khan, Director of BASIS; Naila Chowdhury, Chairman & CEO, and Naseem Ali Khan, Managing Partner, TeleConsult Group, were also present along with other senior management representatives of the respective organizations at the signing ceremony.
Addressing the journalist, Mr. Mubin khan told more than 200 local and international companies will participate at the upcoming event. There will be several roundtable conferences and product display at the occasion. Mr. A Tauhid, Chairman Standing Committee on National Events BASIS said information technology will spread all over country at the rural level like GP did. Ms. Rubaba said Grameenphone along with its vision (We are here to help) feels proud to be participating at an occasion like the upcoming one. GP will help to search IT talents and take part in national development projects. She assured the visitors will be surprised to see their developments. She also asked the Government, NGOs, and media personnel to provide optimum exposure the event like this one deserves. Mr. Habibullah N Karim thanked GP for becoming the key participator and wished that they would continue together to contribute for the development of the IT sector of the country.
The theme of SOFTEXPO 2009 is "Linking People with Technology and Branding Bangladesh as the Country with Immense Possibilities". BASIS SOFTEXPO 2009 will showcase the huge potentials in resources & skills available in Bangladesh. The organizers hope to attract local and foreign investors catering to expansion of outsourcing market in the Bangladeshi ICT sector; thus creating an opportunity for thousands of skilled jobs. The event also aims to educate people about the advantages of technology and its application in our day-to-day life. Mr. M.A. Mubin Khan and Ms. Rubaba Dowla answered different queries of the press following the signing ceremony.
