Deputy Inspector General of Police Mardan Region Syed Akhtar Ali Shah has said that the noose has been tightened around the criminals’ neck in district Mardan and Swabi inline with the directives of Chief Minister NWFP and IGP with a view to purge the area of the anti-social elements.
He said that a grand operation against the offenders would be launched from April10 for which 10 special commandos contingent of police have been formed under the supervision of DPOs Mardan and Swabi Waqif Khan and Muhammad Rafique Khan Swati.
He said this in a special briefing after chairing a high level meeting here on Wednesday at Central Police Office Peshawar.
Syed Akhtar Ali Shah said that due to effective security measures the incidents of kidnapping for ransom has been curtailed in the district. He said that in a grand operation against kidnapers’ 25 abductees hailing from various areas of Punjab and NWFP have been recovered and 60 hardened criminals have been netted.
Moreover, he continued that fifteen days deadline has been given to police officers of district Mardan and Swabi to eliminate the hideouts of drug-sellers and offenders in the districts. He said that the concerEned police would be shown door if he fails in the task.
He said that mobile police and riders’ squad were patrolling round the clock in district Mardan and Swabi to ensure protection to the people and added that the police would remain vigilant so that people could sleep soundly.
