The gravest calamity facing the Tamils is the raging rift in the TNA leadership over ending Sri Lanka’s Tamil genocide.

The Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi addressing the gathering after dedicating the Paradip Refinery to the nation, in Odisha on February 07, 2016.

The Tamils endured six decades of genocide at the hands of SL rulers. The Tamil struggle to escape the genocide was a legitimate one and was accordingly supported by the international community that produced an UN mandated UNHRC inquiry into the SL atrocities. UNHRC report had findings that would have redress the sufferings of genocide victims and bring peace to the affected people. The year 2015 was the most distressing year for the Tamils when the international community for various reasons abandoned the suffering Tamils to the mercies of the perpetrators bent on totally eliminating the Tamils and to remove all traces of the Tamils ever lived in SL.

That the international community abandoned the Tamils in 2015 is tragic enough but the Eelam Tamils are now more distressed that their end is going to occur much earlier with the perpetrators receiving the support of some way-ward Tamils. Most Tamils blame the impending trauma to the antics of Sambandan and Sumanthiram (the “duo”). The “duo” claiming an ITAK lineage is hijacking the TNA into making them culpable partners in SL’s final Eelam Tamil genocide. The “duo”s urgings to the Tamils to support the Ranil/Sirisena genocide reconciliation measures cause the most confusion amongst Eelamists when important sections of international players themselves are attempting to deliver justice to the Tamils still languishing in the North and East SL.

It is unfortunate that the defeat of the LTTE, especially its leader Prabhaharan created a power vacuum for the Tamils that the present Sinhala leadership views this as most opportune to exploit in full the Tamil leaders (“Duo”) who are malleable enough and willing to collaborate in completing the current phase of the SL genocide.

It is a tragedy that the “duo” is using deceptive tactics to propose the dismissal of CM Vigneswaran also from the ITAK wing of the TNA speaking and acting more in line with the original ITAK leaders to earn the confidence of most Eelam Tamils. In comparison this exposes that the “duo” are not as authentic progenies of the ITAK of a SJV Chelvanayagam or an A Amirthalingam. Until recently the light weight Sumanthiran was amongst ITAK members a mere national list member. However he is the keenest advocate in the TNA on dismissing CM Vigneswaran elected (2003) by a very much larger Tamil electorate.

The 2014 election encouraged Sumanthiran to nudge the aged Sambandam into believing that he was the most capable ITAK Tamil leader to handle the wily intrigues of a Ranil Wickremasinghe who had a monstrous record in SL’s genocide of the Tamils. The majority of Tamils in SL are most apprehensive that they are going to be destroyed by the Ranil led Sinhala government bent on erasing all traces of Tamils in SL. The Tamils who face this gravest threat are required to react to end the devious tactics of the “duo” before they sell out the interest of the Tamils to the cunning Ranil led Sirisena.

Eelam Tamils have faced challenges of threats to their survival for over sixty years but the present one is by far the gravest ever. The defeat of the LTTE removed the fear that deterred Sinhala SL attacks to finish off the Tamils earlier.

When in similar situations in the past 60+ years ITAK had leaders with the commitment and caliber of SJV Chelvanayagam, (Vanniasingam, EMV Naganathan, Thiruchelvam) and many others. But the cunning SL leaders easily short-changed Tamil leaders regularly. Do not the Tamils realize that they now have only light weights especially the “duo” to lead them? Though Sambandan served mostly as member for Trincomalee he only dealt with local issues and even after 2001 was not exposed in any negotiations with the SL leadership on resolving the issues of Tamil trauma.

Would the “duo” expect the Eelam Tamils to elevate the “duo “to the level of a SJV Chelvanayagam or an Amirthalingam? SJV Chelvanayagam involved in intricate negotiations with SWRD Bandaranayake and Dudley Senanayake who ranked them amongst the top Tamil legal and political leaders in SL then. Can the “duo” measured by any known standards ever find a place near those eminents in the original ITAK or TULF.  It is the height of folly to trust and depend on the present light-weights to deliver the Tamils out of their present day trauma.

Are the appeals of the “duo “to the Tamils to trust what are vaguely promised reconciliation measures of Ranil to remove the concerns that mortify the Tamils reliable? Withdrawing the SL forces from the North, returning the lands that were grabbed for the army bases are not being returned to the owners as promised; and new areas being grabbed to settle more Sinhalese. These are key elements in SL’s continuing genocide plans. The “duo” has hardly raised these serious issues that cause the Tamils the most concern.

When in the past SL easily broke the signed agreements in the ITAK years it is most foolhardy for the “duo” to expect the Tamils to trust the bona fides of the current private SL promises to the “duo” as serious reconciliation measures. Sambandan is well known in Tamil circles as a RAW agent who desperately sought their support fleeing to India in the critical years between 2007 and 2009. When the US naval boats were positioned in 2009 outside Mullative waters ready to rescue the entrapped LTTE fighters and civilians, the “duo” callously allowed their massacre by the SL forces with Sambandan going into hiding aided by RAW to avoid pleading  with the international community to prevent the massacres planned and executed by the SL forces. Could the Tamils depend on such deceitful elements especially the elusive Sambandan a RAW agent collaborating with Sinhala SL.?

Would Eelam Tamils who experienced the mistrust of Sambandan, Raw agents and Sinhala genociders fall for the Ranil’s trap under the guise of a reconciliation when fewer and fewer Tamils are left to take up arms to fight a ruthless enemy even when fronted by a Sambandan and Sumandiran carrying a TNA banner or flag.
