Great Martyrs of India remembered today in J&K

Jammu, March 23 (Scoop News) –     Various Political Parties including BJP,CPIM, Congress and social organasitions today organised programme  to pay homage to Saheed-e-Azam Baghat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru in Jammu and Kashmir

On the occasion of Martyrs day of Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev Singh and Rajguru, Shaheedi Divas programme was organized in Jammu . under the leadership of BJYM State President Munish Sharma. The portraits of these marytrs were garlanded by the senior leaders. Later over four dozen youth also joined the Yuva Morcha.

BJP State President Shamsher Singh Manhas, while remembering the supreme sacrifices of thousands of patriotic Indians during the freedom struggle said that just remembering the martyrs  once in a year is not enough. Their life, principles, patriotism and commitment towards the motherland should prove to be a source of inspiration for the youth and it is only possible when they are in our minds every moment. He said that these were the people who left comforts of life and jumped into freedom struggle as they could not tolerate the mother India to be slave of the British.

BJP Legislator Party leader Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta recalled the historic role played by Sardar Patel in reorganization of Indian states after independence and said that Dr. Shyama Prasad  Mookerji contributed a lot towards ensuring the integration of Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of India. Patriotic people in J&K have always been subjected to  torture, brutalities  and Dr. Mookerji also sacrificed his life while facing the government’s the in human treatment. 

National Executive Member Dr. Nirmal Singh said that we are enjoying freedom and bost of being born in world’s largest democracy, but we forget the fact that this privilege has come to us due to the sacrifices of great Indians.  He said that it is unfortunate that during all these years of Independence, our country has made more sacrifices as compared to the pre-1947 freedom moment. He said we satisfy ourselves why claiming that we are enjoying Swaraj but the real fruits of democracy are the sole property of a handful of influential people.

BJYM State President Munish Sharma, while paying tributes, said that the youth of today in India, J&K in particular, is in frustration as the government have nothing for them in its scheme of things and their future seems to be dark in absence of adequate job avenues and resources for earning livelihood., scam after scam is getting unearthed, national symbols are being insulted, the youth is directionless and the government is policyless, which is not a healthy development.

The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Sanjay Baru, BJYM Vice-President.        

Suresh Jamwal, Sat Sharma (C.A), Satish Sharma, Dr. Nirmal Kamal and Pawan Khajuria also paid their tributes.

Jammu Regional Committee of CPI(M) organised a programme  to pay homage to Saheed-e-Azam Baghat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru today on 23rd of March,2011 in its office chamber at Gandhinagar Jammu.

Party activists garlanded and showered flowers on his photo.  Comrade Sham Prasad Kesar, Regional Secretary threw light on the revolutionary role played by the trio against British Imperialism.  They were convinced that the establishment of proletarian dictatorship would only emancipate the working class from the exploitation of the ruling classes.  Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Rajguru and many other such revolutionaries fought unto their last for freedom of the people from foreign yoke.  “Today we are free but what kind of freedom when more than 30% of our population is living below poverty line and reeling under utter sub-human conditions.  It is today that their ideology of emancipating the general people especially working class from the exploitation of the ruling class comprising of Big bourgeoise and landlords is quite relevant and people particularly the younger generation should follow their perception of life”, Regional Secretary said.

Comrades Om Prakash, General Secretary, CITU, J&K, Ramesh Chand, Sagar Samnotra, Varun and Arshad Khan also spoke on the occasion.

District Congress Committee Jammu Urban organised a function at PCC headquarter Shaheedi Chowk Jammu, today to observe the martyrdom of  Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Raj Garu and Sukh Dev.

The DCC President Om Chopra, Ex-MLA presided over the function. Senior Vice President and former Deputy Chief Minster Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma, Vice President Yash Pal Khajuria, MLC Ravinder Sharma-Spokesperson, S. Amolak Singh (General Secretaries), Krishan Lal Gupta Rashid Choudhary-President NSUI were prominent those who attended. 

Rich tributes were paid to the martyrs on the occasion and the speakers recalled their contribution in the freedom struggle of the country.

Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma in his address said that the supreme sacrifices by Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Raj Garu & Sukh Dev infused new strength to the freedom movement under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi and other great leaders of Congress party.

Shri Om Chopra   while paying floral tributes said that the supreme sacrifices of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and his comrades will be ever remembered by the countrymen. He laid stress on strengthening the Congress party  and asked the grass root workers of the party to realize their responsibility in the organizational setup to strengthen the secular forces in the state.

Other speakers who also paid floral tributes and remembered the contribution of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Raj Garu and Sukh Dev and took pledge to strengthen the secular forces in the country.

It may be mentioned here that Bhagat Singh was one of the most prominent freedom fighters of India. He sacrificed his life for the freedom of India. This is the reason why he is known as shaheed Bhagat Singh. Along with Bhagat Singh, two other revolutionaries were also given death sentence on the same day. They were Shivaram Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar.

Rajguru was the accomplice of Bhagat singh and Sukhdev in killing a British police officer in Ferozpur in 1928 in order to take revenge for the death of veteran leader Lala Lajpat Rai due to excessive police beating. Sukhdev also played a major role in the killing. This is the reason why all three of them were convicted of the crime and hanged on March 23, 1931.
