Eating healthy does not always mean having to scrimp on flavor or quality of food.
Salmon is chocked full of Omega 3 and Omega 6 that we need in our diets.
Here is a dish that is both healthy and flavorful using quality fish too. You will especially love the flavor and aroma of Sockeye Salmon, fresh off the grill.
There are 6 different ways to prepare it for a simple yet tasty and flavorful meal.
If I am preparing it for just myself I prefer to have it as plain and simple as possible, so as to enjoy the true flavor of the fish, both in aroma, texture, and taste.
But, many also wish to enjoy this dish a little spiced up, so you can also spice things up just a little to please them. Here is how you can prepare sockeye salmon fillet cooked both ways.
With both techniques, make certain to remove the small pin bones from your salmon fillet. Simply feel for them and pull them out, to ensure that nobody ends up with a bone in their mouth. Simple Sockeye salmon is quick and easy to do.

Spiced up Sockeye salmon
1 Sockeye salmon fillet (2 to 2and1/2 pounds)
Ingredients:
Marinade:
2 tablespoons hot dried pepper flakes
1/4 cup pure olive oil
1/4 cup fresh lemon or lime juice
4 cloves garlic (finely diced)
3 teaspoons balsamic vinegar
2 teaspoons tarragon, or cilantro
2 sprigs fresh dill weed
6 slices fresh ginger
2 table spoons honey
In a mixing bowl blend all of these ingredients together to make your marinade.
Instructions:
Place your salmon fillet into a large sealable freezer bag and pour in your marinade. Marinade in your fridge, for a minimum of 3 hours, (over night is better) allowing the full richness of the marinade to seep into the flesh of the fish. (Save marinade for basting)
See grilling instructions below.
If you have marinaded your fillet, remove your dill weed sprigs from the bag and lay your sprigs over the salmon as it grills.
Preparation for grilling:Pre-heat your grill to a “Medium-High” heat about 300 degrees F.
Grilling instructions:Check first for a medium-high temperature on your grill.
Using a paper towel carefully but thoroughly rub some cooking oil onto your grill. This will help to prevent your fillets from sticking to the grill as they cook.
Lay your fillet skin side down on top of the oiled section and grill for approximately 10-15 minutes. Close the cover of your grill. The smokiness will intesify the flavor of the fillet, but keep a spritzer bottle of water handy and an eye for flare ups, you do not want to burn your fillets.
Do not turn fish over withe the grill lid closed you will produce enough heat for the fillets to cook through without turning them over.
At the half way point of the 15 minute maximum cooking time, check your fillet. You should be able to see just a touch of the natural bright pinkness still in the color of the finished product. Remove and serve.
For a rustic, hearty, and delicious homestyle dinner, serve this with home-fried or hash-browned potatoes, or your favorite veggies, or salad.
Personally I prefer the homefries.
Quarter half a lemon and place it in a side dish for (To taste flavoring) at the table.
