The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), a pension fund agency of government personnel, has embarked on a project that elicited appreciation among the millions of retired and active public servants in the Philippines.
Nobody would ever think that the GSIS would come out with such a bright idea of establishing an e-card wherein even those abroad can withdraw money from the banks. To many people, it was a welcome development that was never thought of before. Now, they have even tapped the country’s embassies abroad wherein GSIS pensioners can register or coordinate with a GSIS staff posted at these embassies to have their e-card facilitated for activation.
After all these PR blitz, the GSIS e-card system had bogged down. And it even adviced pensioners who are currently in North America to bear with the computer glitz. Nobody is sure if this is a way of telling the pensioners not to withdraw money because the GSIS has run out of cash, especially during the Christmas holidays. Hopefully, the pension funds are intact and had not been diverted elsewhere at the dictate of somebody up there for the extra bonuses of pro-administration legislators.
