Gul for spreading Gandhiji’s message of peace to counter intolerance, hatred

Jammu, January 31 (Scoop News) – Advisor to Chief Minster,  Mubarak Gul, has stressed for spreading the Gandhian message of peace, harmony and brotherhood adding that Gandhain philosophy has more relevance in the present day world wrought with hatred and intolerance.

 Gul was speaking at a seminar organized by Gandhi Global Family, Jammu and Kashmir Unit, at Model Institute of Education and Research (MIER) on the topic of "Employment for youth- Scope". He said that it is the need of hour to work together for promotion of peace which is imperative for   development and growth. He stressed upon the delegates who have come all the way  from Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa to apprise the people back in their home state   about the real situation in Jammu and Kashmir . He also said that people of the State are peace loving and want to live in a peaceful atmosphere. He said that some vested interests are always trying to disrupt the situation but with the cooperation of the people their ill designs have been foiled time and again.

Referring to the unemployment problem, the Advisor said that the state government has launched a comprehensive policy Sher-e-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Programme for Youth (SKEWP) to address this problem.  He said the programme has great scope and potential to benefit the youth across the state, including those living in far-flung and remote areas. 

             Gul said SKEWPY is the first serious effort towards holistic solution of the burgeoning un-employment problem adding that implementation of the programme, which was launched in April 2010, is moving satisfactorily and  in a right direction. He said for the first time, a concrete data-base of the un-employed youth has been created through concerned district employment and counseling centres across the state.

            He said that since the launching of the Programme 16302 eligible unemployed youth have been identified and benefitted under Voluntary Service Allowance (VSA) for which a whopping amount of  rupees 9 crore have been paid to them so far.

Chairman MIER,  A. R. Gupta, Representative of GGF from Maharashtra, Gujrat and Goa,  D. B. Dharmik, Advocate Muhammad Rafiq,  A. A. Najar and  Mohammad Rafiq Khan, besides some girl students spoke on the topic.

Besides the volunteers and members of the Gandhi Global Family, a large number of people and prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
