Gurupurab celebrated with religious fervor in Kashmir

 

Srinagar, November 21 (Scoop News) – The 542nd Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Devji was today celebrated with great religious fervor across the Valley. Gurbani were held in various Gurduwaras since morning.

            The largest religious function in this respect was held in Gurduwara Chatti Padshahi, Rainawari, Srinagar.

            The Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Samoon, IGP Kashmir,  S.M Sahai and Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar,  M.A Kakroo also visited Gurduwara in Rainawari and took stock of various arrangements made for the festival.

            Interacting with the Divisional Administration, the Management of the Gurdhawara Chatti Padshahi expressed satisfaction over the arrangements made for the festival.

            A shawl was also presented to the Divisional Commissioner on this occasion.

 Meanwhile Advisor to Chief Minister,  Mubarak Gul  on Sunday greeted people of the state, particularly Sikh community, on the auspicious occasion of the birthday of Guru Nanak Dev ji.

In his message on the eve of Gurpurab,  Mubarak Gul said that Guru ji through his teachings spread the message of love, compassion , spirituality and honesty.

He said that the values underlying the teachings of the great Guru will continue to inspire our future generations to strive for establishing a healthier society and a just social order.

Mubarak Gul expressed the hope that this auspicious day would be a harbinger of peace, progress and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir and further strengthen the bonds of communal harmony, brotherhood and secular traditions which have been the hallmark of the glorious heritage and composite ethos of the State for centuries past.

He prayed for the well-being of the people of the State on this occasion.
