Jammu, January 19 (Scoop News) – : The Haj Committee of India and J&K State Haj Committee, both have underscored the need to start direct Haj flights from Srinagar to Saudi Arabia during Haj 2012, besides provision of accommodation to the pilgrims of one State in one cluster. The Committees, which oversee the arrangement for the Haj pilgrimage of India, Hajis, have also sought allotment of due share to J&K State out of Discretionary Quota.
These suggestions came to fore during a meeting held today at New Delhi to review pre and post Haj 2011arangements.
The meeting noted that transport arrangements for ferrying of pilgrims from Minah to Arafat and Arafat to Muzdalifa and to Makah needs to be further improved as against a requirement of 100 buses only, 10 buses were physically provided to the Hajis of J&K during Haj 2011. The meeting also urged the need to make adequate arrangements for pilgrims at arrival and departure phases at the Jeddah Airport.
The meeting has also suggested that only those pilgrims under 70 years age category should be selected for Haj 2012 who are proceeding first time for the holly pilgrimage.
It has been suggested to provide appropriate orientation training to the staff deployed on Haj duty.
