According to news reports Hamas has accepted an Egyptian ceasefire deal with Israel. Although, details are sketching Hamas spokesman claim that there are still some points that need to be hammered out. The Egyptian and French cease fire deal is the first plan to come forward that may be the best hope for the violence to end in Gaza.
The French have stated that they will talk directly with Hamas provided only that they recognize Israel and denounce all violence. This is due to the European Union having Hamas on the terrorist list. Even so, it is not likely that Hamas will not agree to these demands because these issues are at the heart of the fight.
It is the belief of Hamas and the Palestinians that Israel does not belong in the land and they feel as though Israel is an occupying force. It is also a widely held belief that Israel is an oppressive regime which is at the heart of the Palestinian people’s suffrage.
Nevertheless, the final decision will be in the hands of the Israeli leaders as they discuss and weigh in on the terms of the cease fire deal. Israel has stated categorically that they will not stop this recent action until all smuggling tunnels have been destroyed and the rockets have stopped being fired into its territory.
This cease fire deal comes among new rocket attacks originating in Lebanon and is believed to be perpetrated by Hamas supporters. The rockets landed in open areas in the towns of Ashdod, Ashkelon, Sderot, and Beersheeba. The amount of rockets being fired into Israel has dropped off considerably leading Israeli leaders to believe that Hamas is running low on ammo.
