13. Domestic Rape & Acid Throwing:
Many women and children are victimized by domestic rape. Not only an adult woman, but also a female child is raped at family. A child of 8 years old was raped by her step grand father. Her mother was unwilling to discuss about this more, but it was disclosed. The female children raped by their family members or others can’t express it and face a violent mental problem. A house wife was also sexually abused by her father-in-law in the absence of his son for several years living in abroad. In addition women are thrown acid by the family members because of spite, enmity, jealousy, conflict in several cases such as property distribution.
14.Dowry Violence:
Dowry is the most common source of domestic violence in rural areas of many countries.
Where not only the husband but also his parents and relatives remind the wife the remaining dowry because the bride’s parents can’t pay the whole amount at the time of wedding ceremony in most cases. This phenomenon makes the violent form of physical and mental torture, divorce, death, suicide, several marriages of husband without wife’s permission. A house wife Noor Jahan was suffocated by her husband because of the demand for dowry. Wedding has become a bitter experience to Rahela Khatun who has lost her all savings to meet the demand for dowry money, but still her husband is not satisfied. She lamented, “We live under the same roof, we have no mental union, and the only reason is dowry.”
15.Mental Block;
Mental pressure attacks women effectively because of huge number of awkward situations in her family life. Dependence on others, various unfulfilled needs, anxiety and fear grip the life of a woman who develops various complexities of life.
A true example: Afia, a divorced woman couldn’t cope with the breakdown of her marriage. She became absolutely mentally depressed and withdrew herself to a lonely world of her own.
